Calling all exciting, bright and fun women…who have just a little time to spare and like the Newcomers Club!!!

We are formulating the slate of officers for the Board of Directors for the 2010/2011 year and have a few openings for your perusal. If you are interested in Membership, Activities, the Newsletter or Civic Concerns, please let Debbie Bernard (658-2515) or dbernard57@ix.netcom.com now!! Our president next year will continue to be Wendy Sue Kissa, and most of our board members are planning on fulfilling their second year term or volunteering for another position within the board. This is a dedicated and talented group!

Would love some new ideas and to have every portion of our club represented at monthly board meetings. In response to popular demand, a new position, Family Events, has been added this year. Looking forward to hearing from you!!

President’s Corner

Éirinn go brách, Newcomers!

We are just days away from our first big St. Patrick’s Day party, which is the reschedule of our Christmas party in December. Contact Jane Porterfield if you would still like to sign up. It is a great way to meet a lot of new friends in the club whom you might not see on a regular basis.

The spring luncheon and action is underway and Sandra Dingler will be letting us know very soon how we can help. She is hoping for a new way of contacting you all. Please start to assemble a basket to donate and reserve May 6th now for this event!

We are looking for a few new faces for the board next year, so if you have someone you think would be a wise selection, or you would like to help out, contact Debbie Bernard (Nominating).

Thank you to Marianne for a wonderful “Meet and Greet” at the library in February. We had 8 new families represented and I know we will have some new members. Welcome! And thank you to Randi for putting on a great bowling day in the midst of snow and ice during February break. All who came had fun.

Looking forward to seeing you all as spring is almost here!

Potluck Dinner

Thank you very much to Vivienne, Dick, Sheila and Scott for a magical evening. They were all wonderful hosts and hostesses and everyone enjoyed moving from appetizers in one house to the main course in the other. We loved the way they were willing to be creative in hosting and hopefully open the door to more ways to enjoy this great group. Thank you again for your gracious hospitality.

It was especially poignant to have Harold Citron join us for a while and while we miss Jackie terribly, we all felt she was with us in spirit.

On March 6th, we will also be meeting in two homes but all courses will be served in each home. One home will be enjoying Asian foods, and one will be feasting on international foods of your choice. Space is limited so
please respond promptly to ensure your spot. As usual, food assignments will be sent our the beginning of the week of the event.

Looking ahead to April, because of Easter, our group will be meeting on the second Saturday of April and not the usual first Saturday.

Hope to see you at pot luck. Remember there is opportunity for you to coordinate this lively group beginning in September. We have thoroughly enjoyed doing it, but it’s time for us to pass the torch. Please contact Mariann Kalogeros (or one of us) if you are interested in taking this group over.

Simsbury Newcomers’ Needlework Group meets from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM in members’ homes for knitting, crocheting, mending or just good conversation. New members are welcome and we can offer help to beginners.
